          Auto Retro Barcelona

          Antique Cars and Motorcycles Exhibition

          05-08/December

          Montjuïc. 30th event

Auto Retro celebrated its thirty years by hosting

exhibitors from eight countries with more than 700

unique vehicles on display. There were more visitors

from other regions in Spain, as well as from France

and Italy, but the audience was mostly Catalan.

For the first time, the show held a retrospective

with antique buses, trucks and tractors, and a

singular exhibition called «Tesoros al descubierto»

          (Unearthed Treasures), showing antique vehicles

in the exact same state in which they were found

in 2013 after having been abandoned in a garage

          in Barcelona’s city centre.

Worth of special attention were some

          emblematic models celebrating their

anniversaries. SEAT paid tribute to the 1400,

          1500 and 132 models; it was Biscúter’s 60th

          anniversary; Mercedes-Benz 230 SL «Pagoda»

reached half a century, and Volkswagen

          commemorated its 75 years.

Centenary cars could also be seen, by

Barcelona brands such as Elizalde and David,

as well as the Porsche 904 GTS, which in 1964

and 1965 was driven by Juan Fernández in

many competitions. The 6th Antic Car Club de

Catalunya Award went to Joan Villadelprat, a

professional driver who was in different F-1 teams

from 1971 to 2011, and winner of five Driver’s

          World Championships and three Constructor

          Championships.

Other activities included Moritz driving School,

inviting visitors to earn their driver’s license as it

was done 30 years ago; the karting track by Jordi

and Marc Gené; several book presentations, as

          well as exhibitions related to collection vehicles;

and «American Day», which saw a gathering of

          American vehicles, mostly Harley Davidson.

As usual, the market of spare parts and

accessories was a favourite of the audience,

together with the classic Car-Corral, a space

          displaying classic cars for sale.
