          International Contemporary Art Fair Barcelona

          03-06/October

          Montjuïc. 6th event

Swab changed its dates from spring to October

with the aim of strengthening its presence in

the cultural fabric of Barcelona and as a way to

consolidate itself on the international calendar.

According to the organizers, the fact that it is

a contemporary art fair founded by a collector

brings a singular perspective, from the point of

view of the visitor and final receptor of the work

of art. It aims at parting with any elitist or hermetic

image, in order to make art more accessible to

          the general public.

In this sense, Swab’s philosophy relies on

the «discovery» rather than on presenting works

of art already exhibited at other art fairs. That is

why its selection committee, composed of gallery

directors and professionals from the world of

art, search and monitor the work of artists from

various disciplines who somehow embody the

emergent art of their country of origin.

For the third year, MYFAF (My First Art Fair)

gave a young gallery the opportunity to present its

programme for the first time in a trade fair,

totally supported by Swab. The show intends

not only to support emerging creators, but

also to promote the initiation in collecting, by

presenting affordable pieces by young artists.

This new form of collecting is crucial for the

          market’s continuity in our country.

The event hosted galleries coming from 24
