          The Montjuïc venue became a great showcase
        
        
          for the tattoo culture with the event of Barcelona
        
        
          Tattoo Expo, one of the most important shows
        
        
          for this field in Spain. In 2013, Fira de Barcelona
        
        
          hosted it for the first time, after having been held
        
        
          at Cotxeres de Sants and La Farga de L’Hospitalet,
        
        
          a change of premises which turned this event into
        
        
          the most successful one to date.
        
        
          Visitors had the chance to get tattooed and
        
        
          see the world’s best artists at work, including
        
        
          Jack Rudy (USA), Brent McCown (New Zealand),
        
        
          Ching y Yang (Taiwan), Tang Ping (China), Andrea
        
        
          Afferni (Italy) or the Japanese Horitoshi I, the most
        
        
          prestigious tattoo artist in his country.
        
        
          In total, there were 160 participant artists from
        
        
          29 countries who gave more than 1,200 tattoos
        
        
          in three days.
        
        
          The fair also hosted many activities related
        
        
          to urban art, such as breakdance competitions,
        
        
          pin-up and burlesque fashion catwalks, daily
        
        
          tattoo contests, body paint and Japanese martial
        
        
          arts exhibitions, Hula workshops, stands selling
        
        
          crafts, fashion items and accessories, as well as
        
        
          the motor exhibition «Art on wheels», featuring
        
        
          customised motorbikes and vintage classic cars.
        
        
          Over the last years, tattooing has extended
        
        
          exponentially, due to its use by social icons,
        
        
          such as singers, actors and athletes, as well as
        
        
          the presence of young professionals in all the
        
        
          economic sectors, including those considered
        
        
          more classic until now.
