SIL
International Logistics and Maintenance Exhibition
18-20/June
Montjuïc. 15th event
The International Logistics and Maintenance
Exhibition (SIL), returning to the Montjuïc venue
after several years in the Gran Via venue of Fira de
Barcelona, put stress on internationality and had
Morocco as guest country.
The new feature of this edition was the first event
of EU Core Net Cities, a congress and exhibition
about cities and metropolitan areas of the European
Union connected through the great axes of the Trans
European Rail Freight Network. Organised by the
Barcelona City Council, its main goal was to promote
the development of large integrated axes in the trans
European network, approved by the European Union
in 2011, as well as other energetic, aeronautical,
scientific or cultural networks.
EU Core Net Cities wants to stimulate
the economic growth, competitiveness and
territorial cohesion of the EU, taking advantage
of the extension of trans European networks to
transform them into connected, intelligent
and sustainable spaces.
SIL also presented new areas: innovation and
sustainability, in collaboration with the Spanish
Logistics Centre (CEL), where companies of the
sector could introduce their innovations and
projects, and another area devoted to the sector
of road transport.
In addition, there was an extensive conference
programme, covering all aspects of the logistics
chain and transport. Worthy of special mention
were the 14th Seminar on Free Zones
and Warehouses, the 11th Mediterranean
Logistics and Transport Forum, the 9th Railroad
Seminar or the 2nd Latin American Logistics and
Transport Summit.
