          The International Logistics and Maintenance
        
        
          Exhibition (SIL), returning to the Montjuïc venue
        
        
          after several years in the Gran Via venue of Fira de
        
        
          Barcelona, put stress on internationality and had
        
        
          Morocco as guest country.
        
        
          The new feature of this edition was the first event
        
        
          of EU Core Net Cities, a congress and exhibition
        
        
          about cities and metropolitan areas of the European
        
        
          Union connected through the great axes of the Trans
        
        
          European Rail Freight Network. Organised by the
        
        
          Barcelona City Council, its main goal was to promote
        
        
          the development of large integrated axes in the trans
        
        
          European network, approved by the European Union
        
        
          in 2011, as well as other energetic, aeronautical,
        
        
          scientific or cultural networks.
        
        
          EU Core Net Cities wants to stimulate
        
        
          the economic growth, competitiveness and
        
        
          territorial cohesion of the EU, taking advantage
        
        
          of the extension of trans European networks to
        
        
          transform them into connected, intelligent
        
        
          and sustainable spaces.
        
        
          SIL also presented new areas: innovation and
        
        
          sustainability, in collaboration with the Spanish
        
        
          Logistics Centre (CEL), where companies of the
        
        
          sector could introduce their innovations and
        
        
          projects, and another area devoted to the sector
        
        
          of road transport.
        
        
          In addition, there was an extensive conference
        
        
          programme, covering all aspects of the logistics
        
        
          chain and transport. Worthy of special mention
        
        
          were the 14th Seminar on Free Zones
        
        
          and Warehouses, the 11th Mediterranean
        
        
          Logistics and Transport Forum, the 9th Railroad
        
        
          Seminar or the 2nd Latin American Logistics and
        
        
          Transport Summit.
