          In its first experience in Spain, the main world
        
        
          forum on electric vehicles chose Barcelona to
        
        
          host its most successful and international event
        
        
          to date, with visitors from 58 countries, 1,300
        
        
          delegates and 232 exhibitors. The symposium
        
        
          takes place in a different continent each year,
        
        
          rotating through Asia, America and Europe.
        
        
          Over four days of debates and talks, the
        
        
          main challenges regarding the introduction of
        
        
          electric vehicles were discussed, as well as the
        
        
          technological advancements on batteries and
        
        
          charging systems, the development of fast and
        
        
          wireless charging infrastructures, public policies
        
        
          in favour of zero emission transportation, and the
        
        
          industry’s strategic and economic progress.
        
        
          Among the speakers were Olivier Onidi,
        
        
          Director of Innovative & Sustainable mobility
        
        
          of the European Commission; Ahmad Pesaran,
        
        
          from the Center for Transportation Technologies
        
        
          and Systems (Denver, USA); Jeff Doyle, director
        
        
          of the Washington Department of Transportation
        
        
          (USA); and other specialists on transportation,
        
        
          funding and strategic policies to promote electric
        
        
          propulsion technologies.
        
        
          Besides the conference and the exhibition
        
        
          area, with more than 232 companies and ten
        
        
          international areas representing China, Canada,
        
        
          Holland, Slovenia, Norway, France United
        
        
          Kingdom, United States, Demark and Germany,
        
        
          another feature of EVS27 was the «Ride & Drive»
        
        
          space, where visitors were able to try different
        
        
          electric and hybrid vehicles as well as vehicles
        
        
          operated by combustible batteries, to confirm
        
        
          that electric vehicles are a reality, and that their
        
        
          massive introduction is just a matter of time.
        
        
          The E-Visionary Awards recognised Málaga,
        
        
          Indianapolis (USA) and the Goto Islands (Japan)
        
        
          as the most sustainable cities for their electric
        
        
          mobility strategies.
