This event, addressed to the almost 100,000

large families living in Catalonia, brought together

companies from various sectors with special

offers for this collective and with a wide

          programme including workshops, games and

          leisure activities for children.

One of the goals of the event, promoted

by the Large Families Association of Catalonia

(FANOC) with the support of the Government

of Catalonia, was to offer different choices

to families with more children in these times

of economic crisis, as well as to provide them

with a space to meet and have fun.

Discounts and special offers were given

for products and services by companies from

the sectors of food, automotive, insurance, home

          products, leisure, etc.

During the show, the Spanish Federation

of Large Families (FEFN) presented the results

of a survey made to a thousand large families

in order to show the touristic patterns of these

households, which coincided with the presentation

of the Turismo Familias Stamp, created to identify

          destinations, accommodations, recreational

or natural parks, restaurants, travel agencies, etc.

that are adapted for families with children.

Despite the crisis, 90% of the families

interviewed went on some sort of touristic trip

last year. Most of those trips took place during

the summer holidays, followed by weekends and

long weekends; only 25% of the families travelled

for Easter and 17% for Christmas. Three in every

four large families spent their summer in domestic

          destinations.

45% responded to have spent an average of

more than ten nights out during their holidays

and 49% spent more than seven nights out, with

an average expense of 50 euros for 47% of the

families and an extensive use of family hotels,

          apartments and camping sites.
