          Higher Education and Employment Week

          13-17/March

Montjuïc. The Education Exhibition, 24th event / Futura, 10th event

The Education Exhibition and Futura (The Masters

and Postgraduate Courses Exhibition), jointly held

within the Higher Education and Employment Week,

once again became one of the major appointments

in the education sector in Spain, attracting the

attention of students, families and teachers.

The new dual Professional Degrees and training

cycles related to healthcare, hostelry, information

technology and community services, were the main

subjects of interest of young visitors. As for university

degrees, Medicine, Odontology and the different

braches of Engineering were the protagonists of this

event, characterised by a growing internationalization

of the studies as a response to a labour market

          which is becoming more global.

Thus, the participation of 13 Chinese

universities was one of the highlights of the

event. Thousands of students visited their stands,

showing great interest in studies related mostly

          to international business, economy and

engineering, as well as to the Chinese language

and culture. Together with more than 40 academic

positions from China were some presidents and

          deans from their major universities.

According to the Spanish Embassy in China,

the interuniversity agreements between the two

          countries are increasing considerably, currently

having more than 400 existing agreements.

Catalonia and Madrid are the Spanish regions

concentrating a larger number of agreements

with Chinese universities, with 122 and 104

          agreements respectively.

          Likewise, students interested in foreign

languages found a comprehensive offer of courses

in the Languages Show, organised by the Spanish

Association of Promoters of Courses Abroad

          (ASEPROCE).

          According to the association’s estimations,

          around 100,000 Spaniards (30,000 from

Catalonia) will travel abroad to learn or improve

a foreign language. Although most of them will

opt for an English-speaking country, German
